What is the Rule for Multiplying Odd and Even Numbers?
Here’s some nifty information you can share with your students:
When you multiply an odd number by an even number, the result is always an even number.
Here’s why this rule works:
- Odd Number: An odd number is any integer that cannot be evenly divided by 2. In other words, when you divide an odd number by 2, you will have a remainder of 1.
- Even Number: An even number is any integer that can be evenly divided by 2. When you divide an even number by 2, there is no remainder.
