Understanding the divisibility rules of 2, and distinguishing between eve nan dod numbers is a fundamental skill in mathematics. Here are the rules you should be teaching your students:

  • Divisibility by 2 – a number is divisible by 2 if it ends in an even digit, which means it ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8.
  • All even numbers are divisible by 2. This is because they end in one of the even digits mentioned above.
  • Odd numbers are not divisible by 2. They end in one of the odd digits, which is 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9.
