# Whole Number Operations Review

Google Slide, PDF | 8 pages | Grades: 5

Review concepts of long division and multi-digit multiplication with this worksheet.

## Review How to Multiply and Divide Whole Numbers

This whole number operations review is broken into four sections. Students should complete a section and get it checked by the teacher before moving on so that the teacher can help catch any misunderstandings and assist the students prior to concluding the unit. If the section just has minor errors, allow the student to try to correct it on their own. If there are major misconceptions, the teacher can work one-on-one with that student before they move on. When a section is complete, the student can color in a portion of the progress tracker on page 1 and try another section. Students can complete sections in any order, allowing student choice and encouraging personal responsibility.

Sections include:

• Completing tables with missing factors, products, and quotients
• Determining what operation/s to use for word problems
• Fill-in-the-blank numerical sentences and vocabulary words
• Completing area models and fact families
• Standard algorithm
• Word problems

To encourage students to check their work carefully and use their resources when stuck, such as their notes, the teacher can provide an incentive or reward for accurately completing a section on the first attempt. This could include ringing a bell, getting a sticker, getting a standing ovation from the class, etc.

## Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

Ask students who need a challenge to try showing their work in multiple ways to encourage use of different strategies. Allow students to peer tutor or create anchor charts to hang up during unit review time.

For students who may need additional support, allow the use of a calculator or multiplication chart and work one-on-one or in a small group. Additionally, questions can be read orally, the numbers can be modified within the questions and provide completed examples and vocabulary cards to use.

Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or editable Google Slides version of this resource.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

To save paper, we suggest printing this multi-page worksheet double-sided.

Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
