Interactive and Fun Synonyms and Antonyms Activities!

Looking for new, fun, and engaging activities for your synonyms and antonyms lessons? We can help! Turn your students into vocabulary word wizards with our interactive synonym and antonym activities.

This synonym and antonym-matching activity builds vocabulary skills and solidifies your students’ understanding of the meanings of words. This resource encourages students to grow their vocabularies in an interactive format, having them drag and drop pairs of words based on whether they are synonyms or antonyms. Students will drag and drop text messages to match the labels shown on each slide.

This sorting activity is designed for older students due to more advanced pairs of synonyms and antonyms.

No-Prep Synonyms and Antonyms Activity on Deck!

This resource has been designed for independent practice but can also be done with assigned partners. 

Synonyms require students to access their critical thinking skills by looking for the subtleties in word meanings. 

  • For students grasping synonyms faster, have them use the synonym or antonym pairs in sentences.
  • Students struggling to understand the concept might find additional support in a small group structure where they’ll benefit from extra attention.
