Practice Telling Time to the Minute with our Set of Poke Cards

Let your students expand their math skills with our set of time-to-the-minute poke cards. This fun, self-checking activity will allow students to receive feedback right away! 

To play, students will read the clock on each card, poke their pencil through the hole under the correct answer, record their answer on their answer sheet, and flip over the card to see if they are correct. 

Students will show that they understand how to tell time to the nearest minute through this activity.

In addition to math centers, use these telling time poke cards to enhance learning through guided math groups, partner activities, or as a fast finisher activity. 

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts: 

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need help understanding the concepts by eliminating one of the answer choices. Students can choose from two options rather than three. Additionally, provide access to previous assignments, posters, and anchor charts for students to recall past lessons.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

Encourage students who need more of a challenge to write the times of the
Remaining clocks on each card.

🛴 Scoot Activity 

Place the cards around the room in numerical order and give each student a recording sheet. Assign students or pairs to a starting point card. Give students time to review the card and record their answers in the corresponding space on their paper. Students will rotate to the next card when you say, “SCOOT!” Continue in this manner until students return to their starting point. 

👋 Exit Ticket 

Use these cards as a formative assessment after your lesson. Pick a random assortment of cards and project them on the board for the whole class to see. Students can record their answers on a sheet of paper, sticky note, or notebook.

Easily Prepare This Resource for Your Students

Print on cardstock for added durability and longevity. Place all pieces in a folder or large envelope for easy access. 

Punch a hole through the circle under each clock. On the back of the card, circle the hole for the correct answer.

To keep the task cards out of pockets or under desks, punch a hole in each corner and place them on a binder ring.
