Your students will love practicing initial letter sounds with this fun, active game!

Students will complete a series of questions and then a shuffle slide will appear. Students will follow the instructions on the slide, then sit back down to prepare for the next question. It’s a quick and straightforward game that requires no scorekeeping and gets the students up and moving!

This resource can also be used as task cards or a scoot activity if you print the slides. 

For students needing a challenge, why not have them identify the medial or final sounds in the words instead. Needing an extra challenge? Why not have them try to write the entire word! 

Initial Letter Sounds

This game is a wonderful resource to reinforce the skill of beginning sounds in words.

As primary students become more familiar with letters and sounds, they can begin to distinguish beginning letter sounds in words. Once they develop fluency in isolating sounds, they can produce words that begin or end with specific sounds. 

This activity uses visuals to help with the connection between the sound and the letter.
