Introduce preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students to jobs performed at school, home, and in the community with a cut and paste worksheet.
Grab and Go Community Helpers Printables
Community helpers come in all shapes and sizes, and the concept of jobs is a large component of primary grade Social Studies curricula. We’ve been working hard to develop some amazing community helpers crafts and worksheets to increase those lightbulb moments in the classroom.
This social studies worksheet introduces preschool, kindergarten, and first-grade students to the economic concept of different jobs performed at school, at home, and in the community. It includes jobs provided by the government, the local community, and the students. This cut and paste activity asks students to identify those helpers and where those jobs are performed.
An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!
Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:
- Lesson warm-up
- Lesson wrap-up
- Fast finishers
- Homework assignment
- Labor Day
- Whole-class review (via smartboard)
For Struggling Students
- Discuss the images seen on the cut-apart sheet before the lesson. Talk about what each picture shows and what the helper does.
- Provide an anchor chart or reference other community helpers’ activities completed before completion.
Easily Download & Print
Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or Google Slides version of this resource.
Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend printing one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.
Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
