Community Helpers – Preschool and Kindergarten Teaching Slides

Let’s get ready to learn about all the different people who help our community!

This slideshow is full of real-life pictures of different community helpers, and it’s designed for teachers to use as part of a lesson plan. The slides are organized by topic—so you can teach lessons on doctors, nurses, firefighters, police officers, etc.—and interactive features are built to stimulate discussion and learning with your students.

Use this teaching presentation when teaching your students about the various jobs found in their community or as a Labor Day classroom activity.

This community helper slideshow explains the various jobs found in most communities and how they help those in their community. It also has check-for-understanding slides built-in, making it easy to see which students need extra support while keeping your students engaged throughout the presentation.

Use the drop-down menu to choose between PowerPoint and Google Slides. Please note that the Google Slides version allows for more interaction with drag-and-drop activities.

The resource was created by Colleen Burke, a teacher in New York and a Teach Starter Collaborator.
