Create a vocabulary and writing center with a Groundhog Day for Kids word wall and writing template.

Groundhog Day Activities for Kindergarten? We’ve Got Those!

This set of vocabulary cards is designed to help students make sense of the strange holiday known as Groundhog Day in the United States. Each year, Punxatawny Phill creeps out of his den on February 2nd to predict the weather. Why not have a bit of fun with the tradition, and bring Phil into your writing centers?

Each of the sixteen vocabulary cards contains a large-print, easy-to-read word and an image to aid retention. We have also included four accompanying worksheets to have students practice identifying the new vocabulary words and using them in their writing.

Through this activity, students will show increased vocabulary and understanding of the Groundhog Day celebration in the United States.
