Teaching 3D Objects? We Have You Sorted!

Once your students start recognising three-dimensional objects in the world around them, it’s time to teach them the mathematical names of these common geometric figures.

This hands-on sorting activity can be used in your Maths lessons to help students recognise and categorise 3D objects by comparing and contrasting their features. It includes a set of 24 sort cards, each one depicting a different real-world 3D object. Students must sort the objects under the following headings:

  • Cylinder
  • Cone
  • Sphere
  • Pyramid
  • Cube

An answer sheet is also provided in the download.
