Let’s Make an Inference – Picture Style!

As students are beginning to comprehend what they are reading and listening to, chances are you will begin to integrate some opportunities for them to make an inference. An inference involves using what you already know plus clues to make a conclusion about something. Clues can come from written text, but can also come from pictures!

Looking for Some Inference Worksheets?

Teach Starter has created a double-sided worksheet perfect for your foundation and year 1 students. With this worksheet, students will use pictures to make inferences by looking for clues in the images. They’ll then consider those clues and decide which sentence best describes the picture. This teacher-created resource also comes with an answer key for quick and easy grading! 

Challenge fast finishers by asking them to provide evidence to support their answers. Students can also come up with their own pictures and inference options.

If your students are having trouble with the concepts, project the worksheet on the write-and-wipe board and complete it together as a class.
