Keeping My Hands and Feet to Myself – Social Story Video

Teach Starter Publishing
1 min | Years: P - 2

This social story video reminds students of the importance of keeping their hands and feet to themselves.

I Will Keep My Hands and My Feet to Myself!

Social stories are stories that explain particular social situations and explain how to behave in these situations. They are written in the first person, with the child as one of the key characters. This makes it more relatable for the children.

This social story teaches about the social construct of personal space. The story unfolds as follows:

When I’m with my classmates, sometimes I find it hard to keep my hands and my feet to myself.

There are some great ways to help me do this.

I should keep my hands in my own lap.

I should not touch things that are not mine.

This can upset my classmates.

I should remember to use my own things when I’m at school.

My friends might not like it when I touch their bodies or their things.

My teacher and my friends like it when I keep my hands and my feet to myself. This keeps us all happy and safe.
