Alleviate Anxiety About School Related Worries

As the start of a school year draws closer, back to school activities and fun All About Me templates are the first things to get downloaded. But what about kids dealing with big emotions and worries? Help your students understand the things at school that they can control, and those things that they just can’t change! Highlighting – there’s no point worrying about those things! Focus on the things you CAN control.

This interactive activity presents your students with two options; they need to identify which option they can control.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, we have a few suggestions for keeping students on track with these concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Allow the students to respond verbally. Allow the students to read each option and remind them what it means to be in control or not be able to control something.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

Have students create their own two options (one that you can control and another you can’t control) – then they can give their ideas to a friend to complete.

🧑‍🏫 Group Learning

Project the slides onto a screen and work through them as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks or mini whiteboards.
