With adult supervision, cutting skills help students work multiple muscle groups and their brains, plus:

• strengthen finger and hand muscles
• build dexterity and fine motor skills
• improve hand-eye coordination
• develop focus and attention.

And all of these skills are necessary to use a pencil and a fork; button a shirt and tie shoes; write, type and swipe.

Scissor skills are brain and muscle skills! 

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding  

This worksheet set includes a variety of different sorting activities, for students who need the extra challenge, you may like to go straight to sorting between 2,4 and 5 phoneme words. 

For students who need a little extra support, provide them with the cut-and-paste that focuses on only sorting between the 3 and 4 phoenme words to begin with.
