Practise How to Divide with Decimals

Learning to divide with decimals involves a lot of practice and precision. Students have to have a good understanding of their division facts to help them determine quotients. Look no further if you are looking for a whole-class activity for your students to practise this decimal operation skill! Teach Starter has put together a bingo game to help your students practise dividing decimals while also having some competitive fun.

To play, distribute one bingo card to each student and a set of counters to cover the game board spaces. Display one of the 24 calling cards to the students and encourage them to find the quotient. Once students find the correct answer on their bingo card, they must cover it with a counting chip or marker. The first student to get a bingo configuration on their card wins!

More Applications for This Dividing Decimals Game 

While this bingo game has been created as a whole-class activity, it has many versatile uses in your maths classroom. Here are some ideas you might like to consider:

1. Line Them Up – Choose five decimals from one of the game boards. Have the students list these from smallest to largest on a mini whiteboard or in their notebooks.
2. Exit Ticket – Pull a random assortment of calling cards and project them on the board for the whole class to see. Have students write their answers on a sticky note along with their names for an easy exit ticket.
3. Pair or Group Play – Why not allow students to play the bingo game in pairs or groups? More collaboration means more learning, more healthy competition and more enjoyment for everyone!
