Busy Binders! Kindergarten Morning Work Made Easy

Mornings in a kindergarten classroom can be pretty hectic. You’ve got the criers, the mess-makers, the wild ones, and then you have a handful that are ready to get down to business and start their day. This year, we’re excited to help you cool down the morning classroom behaviours and warm up your student’s brains with our Kindergarten Busy Binder workbook!

Grab a Folder & Clear Sleeves to Build Your Reusable Morning Activities for Kindy!

This printable resource is designed to be a reusable resource for your students to use again and again. With some prep work from you, your students will have handy skill-building workbooks that they can use each morning without any copies! Make each student one Busy Binder, and they can use it all year!

Building Your Busy Binder Morning Work Book

To prepare your busy binders, you’ll need a few supplies:

  • 1 printed Busy Book printed worksheet pack for each student
  • 1 3-prong folder (the sturdier, the better)
  • Clear Sleeves/Sheet Protectors (approximately 15 per student)
  • Patience (and a little assembly time)
  • Dry erase markers

Begin assembly by deciding which worksheets you’d like students to have available from the start. Some teachers prefer having them all in place, while others like introducing them one at a time.

To create your Busy Binders, insert the needed number of sheet protectors into the folder using the prongs. You’ll need half as many sleeves as you have worksheets since you can put two in each sleeve (front and back). Place two worksheets in each clear sleeve with the backs together. Continue doing this until you’ve inserted all your worksheets for that student. Now, you have a reusable workbook that your students can grab each morning and start on as soon as they come in!

A Variety of Kids’ Activities to Start the School Day

We’ve included a variety of printable templates for you to create your morning work activity books. Some activities include

  • Monthly Calendar Patterning
  • Daily Classroom Calendar maths
  • Number of the Day
  • Number Tracing
  • Letter Tracing
  • Shape Tracing
  • Prewriting Skills (lines & shapes)
  • Identifying colours
  • Days of the week tracing
  • Months of the year tracing

The best part about this busy binder setup is its adaptability! If your students need more advanced resources, you can add them to their workbooks by changing out pages from the sleeves. Once assembly is complete, hand them a dry erase marker and put them to work!
