🕮 Dictionary Skills are Easy with these Dictionary Bookmarks

These dictionary skills bookmarks are designed to help students improve their understanding and use of dictionaries. With these bookmarks, students can learn how to effectively use guide words, entry words, and pronunciation symbols to quickly and easily find the definitions of words they encounter.

Each side of the two bookmarks includes helpful tips and examples to guide students through the process of using a dictionary. 

The following topics are covered:

  • Guide words – guide words are the words that appear at the top of each page in a dictionary.
  • Entry words – entry words are the words that are listed in bold or uppercase at the beginning of each definition.
  • Finding definitions – this bookmark provides students with a step-by-step guide to finding the definition of a word in a dictionary.
  • Pronunciation – pronunciation symbols are used to indicate how a word should be pronounced.
