🏛️ Build a White House with America’s 44th President!

What made Barack Obama a leader? Learn more about him in this cut-and-paste activity. 

Students will identify 2-D shapes and color them according to the key. When they’ve finished coloring each icon, students will cut each out and glue them to cardstock or construction paper, creating a replica of the White House with President Obama inside.

In addition to individual student work time, use this English Language Arts activity as an in-class or homework assignment for:

• Presidents Day
• Black History Month
• American History
• Government

Additionally, students who need more support with these concepts would benefit from completing this worksheet in a 1:1 setting or guided math group.

Place this activity in your math center and direct fast finishers to complete it once your lesson is complete.

You don’t have to cut these elements yourself. This template makes for a bonus cutting skills activity, depending on your students’ ages and abilities. 

With adult supervision, cutting skills help students work multiple muscle groups and their brains, plus:

• Strengthen finger and hand muscles
• Build dexterity and fine motor skills
• Improve hand-eye coordination
• Develop focus and attention

And all of these skills are necessary to use a pencil, a toothbrush, a fork; button a shirt, zip-up pants, tie shoes; write, type, and swipe.

Scissor skills are brain and muscle skills!
