What Was the Women’s Suffrage Movement?

Women’s suffrage is a topic that can be difficult to get across to elementary students. As adults, we understand the concept, but we don’t always have the language to explain it in a way that young children will understand. This slide deck will solve that problem and help you teach your students what women’s suffrage is, how it works, and why the women’s rights movement was such an impactful time in American history.

Using this slide show, you can teach your students about the history of women’s suffrage in America. They will learn about how it all started, how it progressed over time, and how it eventually came to pass for women across the country. We’ve also included information and fun facts about Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and other amazing women’s rights activists.

The slide show uses original photos from the era to help students visualize what life was like for women before they got the right to vote. It also allows students to read and analyze primary source documents and participate in classroom discussions on the topic.
