Practice distinguishing short and long vowels with a Spring-themed short and long vowel sorting activity.
Step into a New Season With Spring Literacy Centers
We’re getting ready to enter a new season with fun and engaging Spring-themed activities for kindergarten and first-grade learners.
Are you ready to finally say hello to a new season? After a long (and sometimes dreary) winter season, spring has arrived! With the first day of spring comes an activity we can’t wait to share.
We’ve just finished up a new Spring-themed Vowel Sorting Activity — the perfect resource to help your kindergarten students master the important skill of distinguishing between long and short vowel sounds! It gives students a hands-on way to practice distinguishing between long and short vowel sounds and writing words using them in a fun and engaging way.
Long Vowel vs. Short Vowel Word Sort
To use this literacy center, students will simply sort the pictures into the correct long or short vowels category. Once printed, provide your students with picture cards and the printable word work recording sheet. Students will sort the words and record each word in its correct category on the recording sheet.
This activity is a great way to reinforce the concept of vowel sounds and help your students gain confidence in reading and spelling..
