Rounding Worksheets (4th Grade)

As your students come to you in the 4th grade, they probably have a basic understanding of how rounding works. They may remember how numbers round up if the digit to the right is 5 or more and stay the same if it is 4 or less. After learning how to round to the nearest 10 or 100 (as they did in 3rd grade), students move towards rounding through the hundred thousands place.

This worksheet is designed to help students master the skills of rounding 6-digit numbers to the nearest tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, or hundred thousands place when presented with a word problem. On the back side of the worksheet, students must analyze 5 statements, determine the error, and provide the correctly rounded number.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

If there are students who need a bit of a challenge, consider using the editable version and adapting the numbers to include numbers with decimals.

For students who need additional support, provide them with a place value sheet and/or a reference page to remind them of the rules of rounding.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

To save paper, we suggest printing this 2-page worksheet double-sided.

Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
