📏 Measurement Conversion Worksheets

Are you looking for a fun way for your students to practice measurement conversion? Teach Starter has created a resource that you can use with your students that focuses on converting different units of length. Sample problems include those such as:

  • 56 km = _____ cm
  • ______ inches = 10 yards
  • 5 yards = _______ feet

This resource includes 3 different riddle worksheets for students to practice converting metric and customary units of length. On each worksheet, students must solve 12 conversion problems. To solve these problems, students are required to use multiplication and division skills. Once students have completed the problems, they must use the letters in each box to complete the answer to the riddle at the bottom of the page.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

  • Guided math groups
  • Lesson warm-up
  • Lesson wrap-up
  • Early finishers
  • Homework assignment
  • Whole-class review (via smartboard)

Encourage students who finish quickly to convert each question to a different unit within the same measurement system. For example, if students have already converted km to cm, they can try to convert the answer to millimeters.

If some students need some support, allow access to a multiplication chart. Additionally, students can reference previous assignments, posters, or anchor charts to help guide them through the process of converting measurement units.

Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or editable Google Slides version of this resource.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

Turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity by printing on cardstock and slipping it into a dry-erase sleeve. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse them.

Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
