Review classroom procedures and expectations with with this back to school SCOOT activity.

Do You Need Some Back to School Activities? Let Us Help!

Are you looking for an activity to review your classroom procedures and expectations? This activity will have your students up and moving while reviewing important information to start the year off right! This resource includes 20 cards with different questions such as:

  • What should you do if you are done with your work?
  • What should you do if you need a pencil?
  • Where are the classroom rules located?

To play, place the cards around the room. Assign students to a starting card and provide an allotted amount of time for students to read the question. Students will write the answer for each question on the recording sheet in the matching numbered box. Use a signal or call out, “Scoot!” to motion students to rotate. Students will move in numerical order. Play continues until students return back to their first card.

Through this activity, students will show they understand classroom and school procedures/expectations.

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need support by inviting them to reference posters or anchor charts for various routines and/or procedures.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

If there are students who need a bit of a challenge, invite them to draw a poster or infographic demonstrating how to follow particular rules or expectations.

👋 Exit Ticket 

Use these cards as a formative assessment after your lesson. Pick a random assortment of cards and project them on the board for the whole class to see. Students can record their answers on a sheet of paper, sticky note, or their notebook.

Easily Prepare This Resource for Your Students

Print on cardstock for added durability and longevity. Place all pieces in a folder or large envelope for easy access. 

To keep the task cards out of pockets or under desks, punch a hole in the corner of each to place them on a binder ring. 

Sustainability Tip: Print a few recording sheets on cardstock and slip them into dry-erase sleeves. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse them.
