Preposition Practice

Teach Starter Publishing
Google Slide, PDF | 3 pages | Grades: K - 2

Practice prepositions with our 2-page worksheet that prompts students to identify and use prepositions in sentences.

This worksheet is most useful for independent practice to support your Prepositions lesson. It can also be used with your guided writing group

In the first section of this worksheet, students will circle the prepositions among other words.

In the second section, they will decide between 2 prepositions which best fit the sentence.

In the last section, students will write a sentence that includes the given preposition.

Get More Use Out of Our Preposition Practice Worksheet

Got fast finishers or students who need more practice? Here are a few ideas to help you change the difficulty level of this worksheet.

Go Deeper with Preposition Practice

To challenge students who already know the concepts, ask them to flip over the worksheet and write their own original sentences with different prepositions. Then, have students swap papers and circle the prepositions in the new sentences.

Scaffolding for Struggling Students

Before copies are made, strike out one or two choices for questions one and two. Then use the first question of the next two sections as guided practice for the whole class. This worksheet can also be done in peer pairs.

Easily Prepare This Resource for Your Students

Because this download includes the answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheets for students to fill out on their own.

You can also make this worksheet more sustainable for your classroom writing center! Print a few copies on cardstock and slip them into dry-erase sleeves. Students can record their answers with a dry-erase marker, then erase and reuse.

It can also be used in its electronic format with your smartboard or uploaded to Google Classroom or other distance learning platform.
