The Legislative Branch for Kids? Absolutely!

No matter how you slice it, the United States government is difficult to cover with young learners. It is confusing to identify who does what, who is involved, and how it all works! Congress, the Supreme Court and other high courts, state governments, and many other political actors make up the U.S. government’s vast branches. Learning about the different branches and what they do is tough! This Legislative Branch resource is designed to help your learners discover the following:

  • What does the legislative branch do for the country?
  • Who is in control of the legislative branch?
  • What powers are held by the legislative branch?
  • And more!

The legislative branch reading passage requires students to read and understand an informational text and apply their learning to true/false, fill-in-the-blank, written response, and other question formats.
