A set of 20 task cards to practice different elements of peotry.

This resource is a great way for students to practice working with different elements of poetry.

Print out the resource on cardstock and cut out the task cards on the dotted lines. Store in a resealable bag to be used again and again. This resource works great as a reading center activity, or it can be used as a scoot activity if you want a whole-class activity. Simply hang each card around the room and have your students rotate through the cards individually or with a partner. Either way, your students will get plenty of practice working with different poetry elements.

The poetry elements used in this resource include:

  • stanza
  • line break
  • rhyme
  • repetition
  • rhyme scheme.

Looking for a way to save on paper? Why not print a class set of the recording sheets and slide each in a dry-erase sleeve? Then, store them with the task cards to be used again next year!

A recording sheet and answer key are included in the download. Use the drop-down menu to choose between the PDF or Google slide version.
