Uncover the American tradition known as Groundhog Day with an informational mini-book.

Grab and Go Groundhog Day Activities

This printable mini book helps students make sense of the strange holiday known as Groundhog Day in the United States. Each year, Punxatawny Phill creeps out of his den on February 2nd to predict the weather. Why not have a bit of fun with the tradition, and bring Phil into your reading and writing group activities?

Each of the eight half-page book pages includes an image and fill-in-the-blank sentence for students to complete. We’ve included primary lines for our youngest readers to use when completing the sentences with their knowledge of Groundhog Day.

Through this activity, students will show increased vocabulary and understanding of the Groundhog Day celebration in the United States.
