Celebrate Fire Prevention Week this October with an engaging word search activity.

Kick-off Fire Prevention Week with a Word Search!

Get ready for Fire Safety Week with this fun and engaging Word Search! Start the week with this activity. Have students pay attention to detail and see if they can find all the words in each puzzle as they are introduced to National Fire Prevention week!

This word search activity is designed for our upper elementary students and includes sixteen fire safety-related terms to search for in the 14 x 14 letter grid. Words are hidden vertically, horizontally, diagonally, and in reverse order for an extra challenge!

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

🚀Engage your fast finishers by providing them with a blank grid to create their own fire safety prevention worksheet.

🆘Differentiate for your struggling readers and writers by providing them with the nearly identical primary version of the Fire Safety word search. It provides a shorter word list and does not include words hidden on the diagonal or in reverse order.

Easily Download & Print

Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or Google Slides version of this resource.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete. To save paper, we suggest printing this 2-page worksheet double-sided.

Turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity by printing on cardstock and slipping it into a dry-erase sleeve. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse them.
