Print and Go Math Activities – Odd and Even Numbers

Reinforce your math lessons with our odd and even numbers word problem task cards!

Through this activity, students will practice odd or even number identification strategies and strengthen their algebraic thinking skills for future mathematical operations like multiplication and division. This word-problem-based math activity has students reading short story problems and identifying the odd or even number being referenced in the tale. We’ve also included an answer key to make this math center self-checking!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

  • Support students who need help understanding the concepts by using fewer cards, beginning with the smaller digit numbers and increasing in difficulty.
  • Students can also count out each number with manipulatives and pair them in twos. If there aren’t any leftover manipulatives, the number is even; if there are, it’s odd. Students can also divide the numbers by 2 to find out if the number is even or odd.
  • Challenge fast finishers who already understand the concept by giving them more significant numbers to identify as even or odd. Students can choose an even number and an odd number to explain how to identify the number.
