Wrap up the School Year with Self Reflection Questions

As you wrap up the school year, these task cards featuring self-reflection questions will help your students reflect on the many events they experienced throughout the year.

The 24 cards include thoughtful reflection questions that students will respond to in writing or a small group discussion. Each question includes space for students to explain their reasoning, making it easy to see what they learned and how they feel about their yearly progress.

Some of the self reflection questions included are:

  • What are you most proud of this year? Why?
  • What was the most challenging thing you did this year? How did you overcome it?
  • How could you have made this year better?
  • What would you like next year’s teacher to know about you?

To use, post the reflection questions in a station or around the classroom. Have students move around the room, reading and responding to each card on the recording sheet. When finished, hold a classroom discussion and let your students celebrate their successes!

Differentiate Your End-of-Year Reflection Game

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need help understanding the concepts by

  • Partner struggling readers with a partner to provide reading assistance.
  • Complete the activities as a whole class.
  • Provide sentence starters to encourage student responses.

🛴 Scoot Activity

Place the cards around the room numerically and give each student a recording sheet. Assign students or pairs to a starting point card. Give students time to review the card and record their answers in the corresponding space on their paper. Students will rotate to the next card when you say, “SCOOT!” Continue in this manner until students return to their starting point.

Easily Prepare These Reflection Questions for Your Students

Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or Google Slides version of this resource. A recording sheet is also included with this download.

Print on cardstock for added durability and longevity. Place all pieces in a folder or large envelope for easy access.

To keep the task cards out of pockets or under desks, punch a hole in the corner of each to place them on a binder ring.
