Practice How to Divide Decimals by Decimals and Whole Numbers

Do your students need a refresher on how to divide with decimals? When teaching your students to divide with decimals, remind them of the following:

  1. If the dividend has more decimal places than the divisor, shift the decimal point in the dividend to the right until it has the same number of decimal places as the divisor.
  2. If the dividend has fewer decimal places than the divisor, shift the decimal point in the dividend to the right until it has the same number of decimal places as the divisor.
  3. Divide the numbers as if they were whole numbers, ignoring the decimal point.
  4. Place the decimal point in the quotient directly above the decimal point in the dividend and count that many spaces from the right to get the correct answer.

With this set of three dividing with decimals math mazes, students will practice dividing a decimal by a decimal and a decimal by a whole number.

These mazes download as a printable PDF or editable Google Slides file. An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!
