Decomposing Numbers to a Ten to Subtract – Slide Deck!

Students may have mastered decomposing numbers and rearranging the parts in numbers smaller than ten, but can they use the same concept to subtract two-digit numbers?

Use this slide deck with your students who need additional strategies to solve two-digit subtraction problems. They will demonstrate their ability to break apart the subtrahend in an equation into tens and ones and use those simplified numbers to solve the problem mentally.

This teaching presentation outlines the decomposing to a ten subtraction strategy. It includes example slides that break down the steps involved in this strategy and uses animation to help visualize the process.
