Convert a Percent to a Decimal or a Fraction

Do your students need additional practice writing percentages as decimals or fractions? This critical math skill is typically introduced in 6th grade but will be used in the real world. We use percents, decimals, and fractions when calculating discounts and when we tip a server at a restaurant, to name a few. Teach Starter has created a worksheet that your students can use to sharpen their skills of writing a percent as a decimal or a fraction.

With this worksheet, students will practice converting percentages to decimals and fractions. Students will answer 10 questions of each type and two word problems that put this skill into practice.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

If there are students who are early finishers, encourage them to create a list of when percentages are used in their daily lives.

For students who need additional support, encourage them to reference a poster or anchor chart to help convert from fraction to decimal to percent.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

Turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity by printing on cardstock and slipping it into a dry-erase sleeve. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse them.

Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
