Use this cut and paste worksheet as independent practice to support your sentence structure lesson.
Students will read each phrase and decide whether it is a complete or incomplete sentence and paste it to its appropriate column.
By completing this activity, students show they have a grasp on standard English grammar writing and speaking conventions.

Got fast finishers? Students who need a challenge can rewrite the incomplete sentences to fix them.
Students who need support may benefit from a checklist of “sentence must haves” to help them identify complete sentences. For each example, they can check off what the example sentence has, and if the checklist is complete, the sentence is a complete sentence. If the checklist is not complete, the sentence is an incomplete sentence.
Prepare This Resource In A Variety Of Ways
Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.
You can also turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity! Print a few copies on cardstock and slip them into dry-erase sleeves. Instead of cutting and pasting, students can write their answers with a dry-erase marker, then erase and reuse.
Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
