Go Deeper with Collective Noun Practice
For a challenge, students who are familiar with collective nouns could use this resource to inspire a “mad libs” kind of activity, in which students would replace the collective noun phrase with a different collective noun phrase that was correctly used but “silly.” For example, instead of a “choir of carolers” coming to sing at your door, a “school of fish” might come to sing at your door.
Scaffolding for Struggling Students
For students who are struggling, help them complete the activity by only providing 2 or 3 options from the word bank, per question, instead of making the entire word bank available.
Easily Prepare This Resource for Your Students
Because this download includes the answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheets for students to fill out on their own.
To make this worksheet more sustainable in your classroom writing center, print a few copies on cardstock and slip them into dry-erase sleeves. Students can record their answers with a dry-erase marker, then erase and reuse.
