Read and write about the major national holidays in the United States with a printable mini-book for primary readers.
Grab Your Holiday Printables Here! Celebrate America
The school year is underway, so let’s get you prepped for all of those upcoming patriotic holidays in your Social Studies curriculum! We have created a fun and engaging American holiday reader for first-grade and kindergarten students. Use this mini-book for an interactive read-aloud in the weeks surrounding the following patriotic holidays.
Through this group reading activity, students will identify high-frequency sight words and use context clues and images to determine the meaning of unknown words or phrases. They will complete sentences about the different patriotic holidays in the United States.
Among the many benefits of using printable books, students will develop their language, expand their vocabulary, and strengthen their ability to use context clues to determine meaning from a text.
Alternative Uses For a Printable Holiday Book
We created this resource for circle time and reading lessons. In addition, we suggest these alternative uses to reinforce reading skills and new vocabulary words with your small group and full-class lessons:
- Print on cardstock and assemble a small set of books for a reading center activity where students read the books to each other as partners.
- Complete a booklet, print a copy for each student and send them home as homework activities.
