Want to Encourage Your Students to Ask for Help? We Hear You!

Are your students learning how to ask for help? Who to go to and what scenarios warrant an urgent request for help over an ‘it can wait’ request for help? We must normalise and de-stigmatise help-seeking behaviour so all students feel comfortable and confident to seek help when needed.

This set of classroom posters visually represents the following topics:

  • Reasons to ask for help
  • People to ask for help
  • Ways to ask for help
  • How to ask for help

Everything your students may need to help them understand each of these statements.

Multiple Applications for These Asking for Help Posters

While these posters will look wonderful displayed on your classroom wall, their versatility extends far beyond a mere classroom display! Use these food web posters to enhance your students’ learning through whole-class lessons, small-group activities or independent research.

Whole-Class Discussion

Display the posters in turn on your interactive whiteboard. Use guiding questions to explore each statement on the poster.

  • What are some reasons you might ask an adult for help?
  • Who are the different people you can ask for help?
  • How can you ask for help?

Small-Group Activity

Divide the class into groups and provide each group with a different poster. Have the students work together to brainstorm more content that could have gone on each of the posters. Have the students take turns to share their presentations with the class.
