Contractions & Apostrophe Lesson Plans ✅

A contraction is a shortened form of two words with an apostrophe taking the place of the omitted letter(s), e.g. do not = don’t. Once students learn where to put the apostrophe, contractions are a breeze! That’s where this resource comes in. This apostrophe PowerPoint is the perfect instructional tool to introduce using apostrophes to your young writers.

This teaching presentation includes the following

  • Instructional slides on the usage of the apostrophe to form contractions
  • Discussion questions for student interactions
  • Pair and Share opportunities
  • Embedded timers for providing ample think time between questions
  • End of lesson knowledge checks

Through this activity, students will show their ability to make, use, and spell contractions.
