A game to practice subitising numbers 1–6.

Use this resource in your classroom when learning to subitise numbers 1–6.

Print out the game board and heart die on cardstock for added durability. Cut out the die and construct it using glue or double-sided tape.

Students play the game in pairs. Each student gets a Cover Up! game board and a set of counters to play with. Students take turns rolling the heart die, saying the number rolled and covering one of the matching numbers on their game board. The first student to cover all of their numbers wins!

Alternatively, students can play on the same game board. The student to cover the most hearts at the end of the game wins!

Print the black and white game board and die on red or pink cardstock and use it in the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day.

This resource makes a great maths groups rotation for your students!
