Year 5 Fractions Worksheet

Are you looking for a printable resource to review student understanding of fraction concepts? Teach Starter has a comprehensive and ‘test-style’ resource ready for use in your classroom!  This worksheet would be a great extension activity for students in years 3 and 4 and a comprehensive year 5 fractions review. This culmination activity is a great way to ensure your students understand different fraction-related concepts. This worksheet covers the following topics:

  • writing a fraction from a shaded model
  • composing fractions with unit fractions
  • equivalent fractions
  • fraction of a set
  • fractions on a number line
  • comparing fractions.

This worksheet has 18 questions, 15 multiple choice and 3 written response questions. There is a student recording sheet and an answer key with rationales for correct answers.

The recording sheet can be used if desired. Three questions require students to write out their responses, and 15 questions are multiple-choice questions.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

As an extension, challenge students to create their own fraction questions and answer key.

If students need additional support, consider reducing the number of questions. Additionally, allow students to use fraction manipulatives as needed.
