Wants and Needs… The Difference Is Real!

Use this simple worksheet when teaching your students the difference between our personal needs and wants. Students are required to circle whether each item in the list is a want or a need.

The wants and needs on the worksheet are:

  • Wants: donuts, toys, bikes, cars.
  • Needs: apples, houses, clothing, water, shoes, clean air.

Tips for Extension and Support

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your Social Studies lessons.

🆘 Support Struggling Students

To set students up for success, conduct a class or small-group discussion prior to completing the worksheet.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

Encourage fast finishers to create additional examples of want or need questions in their workbooks to swap with a partner.
