Mini-Mystery – Who Won the Race?

Teach Starter Publishing
PDF | 2 pages | Years: 5 - 6

A fun, logic-based activity where students read clues to solve the mystery.

This teaching resource can be used as an engaging warm-up activity or task for fast finishers.

Use it as a stimulus for the whole class or distribute to individual students.

Students read the statements made by the characters and the Cold Hard Facts at the bottom of the page.

They use logic and reasoning to eliminate ‘red herring’ characters and mathematical knowledge to determine the winner of the race.

The answer is wrong? Shouldn't it be the flower?

Hi Jessica, SPOILER ALERT! Even though the flower usually can finish a 500 m race in two minutes, which is true, they didn't actually finish the race because they went off with another character for milkshakes! Alas, if the flower did not finish the race, they could not have been the winner. Must have been a good milkshake!
