Use this capacity worksheet to give students practice at reading scales on containers to measure capacity.

The containers used in this worksheet illustrate liquids measured in millilitres and litres. A variety of tasks are included. Students need to:

  • draw lines to indicate various capacities on a jug
  • identify the given capacity of containers
  • calculate the missing quantities in containers.

The scales on the containers use a number of different graduations – with intervals every 1 millilitre, every 10 millilitres every 20 millilitres, every 50 millilitres, every 100 millilitres and every litre.

This worksheet will not only improve students ability to measure capacity in millilitres and litres, but it will also reinforce their understanding of number lines.
