Match natural resources with how they are used with the help of this worksheet.

Looking for a Natural Resources Worksheet?

What is a natural resource? How are they used? Natural resources are materials or substances formed naturally and can be used for a specific purpose. Natural resources may be renewable or nonrenewable. This worksheet will help students determine how natural resources help create products and materials we need.

This science worksheet encourages students to think about different resources and their uses. Students will draw a line from each natural resource to show the progression of how it is used. For example, we use trees for wood, which is then used to build houses.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

  • Guided science groups
  • Lesson warm-up
  • Lesson wrap-up
  • Fast finishers
  • Homework assignment
  • Whole-class review (via smartboard)

For students who need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to list additional natural resources and how they are used in their everyday lives.

For students needing additional support, encourage them to reference previous lessons, assignments, or anchor charts to support them with the worksheet. Additionally, students could work backward (right to left) if that is helpful for them.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

Turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity by printing on cardstock and slipping it into a dry-erase sleeve. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker and then erase and reuse them.

Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
