🌱 Life Cycle of Plants and Animals 🦋

Learning about life cycles can be a fun and exciting time for young learners! This is a concept where students can observe life cycles in their own classroom. Maybe your students are watching how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. Perhaps they have planted their own seeds and have watched them sprout and grow. If you are looking for an instructional resource to cover the ins and outs of life cycles, we have you covered!

This instructional slide deck will make a great addition to your unit plans when learning about organisms and environments. The presentation includes opportunities for your students to demonstrate their understanding of the content with built-in check for understanding questions.

With this teaching presentation, your students will learn about:

  • the definition of a life cycle
  • the life cycle of a plant
  • the life cycle of animals
  • metamorphosis.

Through this activity, students will learn how animals and plants undergo a series of changes in their diverse life cycles.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your science lessons.

In addition to individual student work time, use this instructional presentation to enhance learning through guided science groups, whole class lessons or remote learning assignments.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Break the teaching presentation into smaller portions. For example, use the material to teach about the life cycle of a plant first and give students an opportunity to talk, process, and record their learning. When your students are ready, use the material to cover animal life cycles while comparing the two processes.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

For students who may need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to choose a plant or animal and create an infographic showcasing its unique life cycle.
