Looking for Content-Related Grandparents’ Day Ideas?

Are you ready to celebrate Grandparents’ Day in your classroom? We’re here to help you prepare!

On this special day, people remember and honour their grandparents or other older relatives. The idea of this day is to bring everyone together and build stronger family relationships.

In primary schools, teachers usually celebrate this day through activities such as:

  • sharing stories about grandparents
  • making and sharing printable Grandparents’ Day cards
  • sharing old photos
  • making a memorable Grandparents’ Day craft
  • holding special classroom events with grandparents.

With the amount of content in the curriculum, it can be hard to fit in celebratory events like Grandparents Day. That’s where we come in! We’ve created a grammar-related worksheet to integrate your English standards into your celebrations. This worksheet requires students to identify and write adjectives to describe their grandma, grandpa or grandparents that begin with each letter of the alphabet.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

  • Provide additional support to struggling readers and writers by allowing students to use a thesaurus (or digital equivalent) during the completion of the activity.
  • Challenge your more-capable students by encouraging them to turn their list of adjectives into a booklet by writing complete sentences and drawing pictures on each page.

Easily Download, Print and Assemble

Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or Google Slides version of this resource.

Why not have your students complete the activity and then paste the worksheet onto colourful backing paper? Students can then decorate the edges of the backing paper and gift the finished result to their grandparents. What better way to show them how much they are loved?

Don’t stop there! We’ve got more Grandparents Day activities to help you celebrate!
