Make Fractions Fun With Partner Games and Tasks!

Mastering fractions can be challenging for students, but it doesn’t have to be boring! Numerous innovative methods exist to make the fractions learning process enjoyable and captivating for students. Among these methods, partner games and activities are highly effective. Not only do they make learning fractions a fun activity, but they also encourage students to work in teams and interact socially with their peers.

Fraction Games and Tasks for Every Standard

This resource download includes partner games and activities to meet year four and five fraction standards. We’ve included a partner task for each of the following concepts:

  • Identify fractions greater than, less than, or equal to one whole.

  • Identify and match fractions with their equivalent fractions.

  • Partitioning and modelling fractions using a bar model.

  • Identifying the location of different fractions on a number line.

  • Comparing two fractions using <, >, =.

  • Ordering a series of three fractions using comparison symbols.

  • Classify fractions as unit fractions.

  • Decomposing fractions into equivalent number sentences.

  • Identifying the parts of a fraction needed for a given fraction to become one whole.

Each printable activity includes a single-page maths task for students to complete with their partners, encouraging them to communicate and discuss their thinking about the given concepts. These activities only require a deck of fraction cards, also included in the download.
