😍 Graph The Way To Your Students’ Hearts

Use this independent practise worksheet to support your coordinate planes lesson.

Students plot the 18 ordered pairs listed at the top of the page, then connect them to reveal a Valentine’s Day heart. They can then colour the heart to turn it into a unique Valentine’s card!

By completing this activity, students demonstrate an ability to graph multiple points on axes.

Scaffolding + Extension Tips

In addition to individual student work time, use this count and color worksheet as a:

  • Maths group activity
  • Maths Warm-up activity
  • Brain Break
  • Homework assignment
  • Fast Finisher activity

Support students who need it by completing this activity in a 1:1 setting or in your guided maths group.

Challenge students to colour their pictures using symmetry!

To Prepare This Resource

Please note this activity downloads as a PDF worksheet. Because an answer key is also included, we recommend printing one copy of the file first, then making photocopies of the worksheet for students to complete.

You can also turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity! Print a few copies on cardstock and slip them into write and wipe sleeves. Students can record their answers with a dry-erase marker, then erase and reuse.

Have students create a graph in their notebooks with numbers 1-10 on both the x and y axes. Provide the coordinates and have students plot the points on their paper.
