Learn about community helpers and the jobs they do with a set of interactive peg cards.

Recognising Community Helpers

Learning to identify people in the community and the roles they perform is a highly valuable skill for children to learn.

This resource engages your students in identifying people who help others in the community. It works in a similar way to printed peg cards. In this interactive version, students drag and drop a star to correctly identify the community helper shown in the image. It contains ten activity slides with two interactive peg cards on each slide.

Further Applications of This Community Helpers Activity

This resource has been designed to assist you in implementing your Personal, Social and Community Health program.

Why not take the resource further by using it as a stimulus to discuss the concept of ‘trusted/safe adults’ with your students? Encourage your students to identify which people from the resource could potentially be a ‘trusted adult’ who could be depended upon to help them if they were ever in an unsafe situation.
