Teach Starter Publishing
PDF | 10 pages | Years: 4 - 6

A project that encourages students to use imperial and customary units to measure popcorn poppers and the popcorn they produce.

Let’s go to Colossal Cinemas, the best cinema around!

This teaching resource is a project that teaches students how to measure popcorn using imperial and customary units, including ounces, pounds and cups. Students will study different-sized popcorn poppers and use their mathematical knowledge to determine which will meet the demand for popcorn at a popular movie cinema.

In this project, students will learn and engage with:

  • imperial units
  • algebra
  • statistical graphs
  • researching ideas and using prior knowledge
  • stimulus comprehension
  • number knowledge including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Hi. It would be great if an alternative could be provided in standard metric units. Cups, grams, kilograms etc.

Changes and updates Can an answer sheet be provided? Some comprehension are variable but many maths ones won’t be so it will just help reconfirm my answers.
